East Asia & The Pacific

From technology to cuisine, the East Asia and Pacific region is deeply connected to Kansas City.

With over 2.3 billion individuals residing in the East Asia and Pacific region, the United States engages with partners and allies in the region to maintain peaceful, mutually beneficial relations. 

The U.S. main foreign policies toward this region is to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region, encourage the denuclearization of North Korea, and foster better relations with China. This region has a gross domestic product (GDP) of over $25 Trillion USD, making the economic relationship important to national interest.

Kansas City Ties

There are approximately 45,000 Kansas Citians with ties to the East Asia and Pacific region. Among the largest connections are Asian-Americans connected to China, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos, and Japan who call Kansas City home.

The rich connection between Kansas City and this region is felt throughout the city as evidenced through the presence of restaurants, grocery stores, houses of worship, and community centers.
