NIAN (“New Year”) – A KCCA Original Lunar New Year Independent Feature Film

Recent Posts

The Spring festival is when families reunite once a year; it is also the most celebrated festival for overseas Chinese.  In the movie, the Chinese immigrants in Kansas and Missouri are making this new land their home, and the New Year Gala has become a tradition for the Chinese community here. The live gala was canceled two years ago at the last minute because of COVID, and for two years people could only celebrate virtually during the pandemic.  In the story, people of different generations and backgrounds in the community work together, against odds, to bring the New Year Gala back to the stage, to retain their legacy.  It showcases a collection of beautiful cultural performances.
